Mao’s Last Dancer on DVD Jan 4

Mao’s Last Dancer which enjoyed a long theatrical run is now out on DVD.  The film recounts the true life story of Li CunXin a talented ballet dancer from Qingdao, China who defected to the US in the early 80s.  You can also read the autobiography which shares the same name as the movie.  There’s even an illustrated children’s version too.  I enjoyed the film but have not read the book.

Interviews with the dancers Cao Chi and Guo ChengWu who play Li CunXin as an adult and teenager respectively.
